Following My Heart Helps To Choose Galatasaray Over Saudi League
Victor Osimhen, 26, had a sensational loan spell with Turkish giants Galatasaray last season, netting 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 matches across all competitions.
With his exceptional performance as he powered the club to a Super Lig and Turkish Cup double, he also earned the prestigious Golden Boot award.
Though heavily courted by Saudi Pro League powerhouse Al Hilal and several top European clubs, Osimhen opted to remain in Istanbul after Galatasaray splashed €75 million to sign him permanently from Napoli.
While in an interview with the club’s official website, the Nigerian striker admitted the offers were tempting but said his heart guided the decision.
“I received huge offers from some clubs, and honestly, I was interested. But deep down, I already knew where I wanted to be. Galatasaray made me feel valued, and the bond here is unique,” Osimhen said, as quoted by Punch.
The forward has already picked up where he left off, scoring twice in Galatasaray’s opening three league fixtures this season.
Currently, the former Lille and Wolfsburg star who was on international duty to Nigeria, is returning back to his club after Super Eagles won their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda in Uyo with 1-0.
Nigeria will battle South Africa in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
