Iwobi scores, assists as Fulham claims 3-1 victory over Sunderland.
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi delivered a stunning performance, scoring once and providing an assist as Fulham secured an emphatic 3-1 victory over Sunderland in Sunday’s English Premier League clash.
Fulham seized control of the contest shortly after the restart, with Iwobi at the heart of their attacking thrust.
In the 54th minute, the Nigerian swung in a precise corner that found Raul Jimenez, whose powerful header bounced into the bottom corner to hand the visitors a 1-0 lead.
The London side doubled their advantage in the 61st minute after a VAR review awarded them a penalty. Jimenez stepped up and converted confidently to make it 2-0, silencing the home crowd.
Sunderland briefly threatened a comeback when Enzo Le Fee converted from the spot in the 76th minute after Ryan Sessegnon was penalised for a foul inside the box. The goal cut the deficit to 2-1 and injected tension into the closing stages.
However, Iwobi extinguished any hopes of a revival in the 85th minute. Latching onto a pass inside the area, he finished clinically from a tight angle to restore Fulham’s two-goal cushion at 3-1.
The midfielder was later substituted in the 88th minute, having capped an influential display that underlined his growing importance in Marco Silva’s setup.
