Super Falcons prepare for the Comoros clash as Nigeria resumes camp on October 4 ahead of the 2028 Olympics qualifying tie in Ikenne
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will resume camping on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Ikenne, Ogun State, ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games qualifying tie against Comoros, with both legs scheduled to take place at the Remo Stars Sports Complex.
The Super Falcons will face Comoros in the second qualifying round, with the first leg set for Friday, October 9, before the return fixture on Tuesday, October 13.
Nigeria received a bye into the second round after being ranked among Africa’s highest-ranked women’s national teams, giving the Falcons a direct route into the next stage of the Olympic qualification campaign.
The match will mark Nigeria’s first competitive assignment in the 2028 Olympic qualifying series, as the team begins preparations under interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen.
Eguavoen who was appointed temporarily by the Nigeria Football Federation earlier in September will oversee the Super Falcons.
Comoros secured its place in the second round after a remarkable 30-0 aggregate victory over Sudan in the opening qualifying round.
The result underlined the gulf between the two sides in the previous round, although the Comoros tie represents a significantly tougher challenge against one of Africa’s most established women’s football teams.
For Nigeria, the two-legged encounter will also provide an early test for Eguavoen as he works with the squad following his appointment.
The Super Falcons are among Africa’s most decorated women’s football sides and have regularly competed at the Olympic Games, although Nigeria’s qualification campaign for Paris 2024 ended before the tournament.
The 2028 Olympic women’s football tournament will be held in Los Angeles, United States, with African teams required to navigate the continental qualifying process before securing places at the Games.
With both legs being played in Ikenne, Nigeria will have home advantage throughout the tie.
The Falcons will therefore be expected to make effective use of familiar surroundings as they seek to advance to the next stage of the qualification campaign.
The first leg on October 9 will be followed four days later by the decisive return fixture, with the aggregate score determining which team progresses.
The Nigerian Football Federation is expected to release further details on the squad and training schedule as the October camp approaches.
