Women’s Yashin Trophy: Chiamaka Nnadozie rated 4th best goalkeeper in historic edition

Chiamaka Nnadozie rated 4th best goalkeeper in historic edition

Nigeria’s Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has made history after finishing 4th in the first edition of the Women’s Yashin Trophy, an award dedicated to the best female goalkeeper in the world.

The recognition came on a glittering night in Paris where football’s biggest stars gathered for the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony. Though the top prize slipped away, Nnadozie’s 4th-place finish underlined her rising status in world football and confirmed her as one of the finest shot-stoppers of her generation.

The award, modelled after the Lev Yashin Trophy for male goalkeepers, was introduced this year to honour women who stand tall between the sticks.

Nnadozie, who has been a rock for both Nigeria’s Super Falcons and her French club Paris FC, stood out after a remarkable season in the French D1 Arkema League and the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where her penalty-saving heroics turned heads across Europe.

Through this achievement, Nnadozie not only carved her name into history books but also showcase Nigeria’s flag high on football’s topmost stage.
