Nigerian students interested in the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s Student Share Grant Initiative can now complete the required verification and apply to participate in the programme.
The initiative is linked to the ongoing Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE Initial Public Offering (IPO) and is designed to give eligible students practical experience with investing and asset ownership.
Under the programme, eligible students who meet the requiremen ts and subscribe to at least 10 Dangote Refinery shares can qualify for an additional application for 10 shares funded by the Aliko Dangote Foundation.
However, the additional shares are subject to the IPO’s allotment process and should not be treated as a guaranteed allocation.
Who Can Apply for the Dangote Student Share Grant?
The initiative is targeted at Nigerian tertiary students who meet the Foundation’s requirements.
Applicants must:
* Be Nigerian students aged 18 or above.
* Be enrolled in an eligible public or private tertiary institution in Nigeria.
* Complete the required student verification.
* Subscribe to at least 10 Dangote Refinery IPO shares.
* Apply in their own name and for their own benefit.
Eligible institutions include universities, polytechnics and colleges of education, according to the Foundation’s application platform.
Students should provide accurate information during the verification process because incorrect or unverifiable information could prevent them from completing the application.
Before You Apply: Important Things to Know
Before starting the application, students should understand the following points.
You need money for your own shares: The programme requires you to subscribe to at least 10 Dangote Refinery shares. At ₦525 per share, that means a minimum of ₦5,250, excluding any applicable charges.
The extra 10 shares are not guaranteed: The Foundation funds the additional application, but this does not automatically guarantee that all 10 additional shares will be allotted. The application remains subject to the IPO’s allotment process.
You must meet the eligibility requirements: Applicants must be Nigerian tertiary students aged 18 or above and successfully complete the Foundation’s verification process.
Your information must be accurate: The verification process requires information such as your institution, matriculation number and BVN. Applicants should provide their own correct details.
Use only the official application platform: Avoid links sent by unknown individuals on WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or other social media platforms. Start your application from the official Aliko Dangote Foundation platform.
Never share your banking security details: Your BVN may be required for verification, but you should never give anyone your bank PIN, password or OTP. Be particularly suspicious of anyone asking for payment to “activate” your free shares.
Remember that shares are an investment: Receiving or buying shares does not guarantee a profit. The value of shares can rise or fall, so students should read the applicable IPO documents and understand the terms before investing.
How to Apply for the Dangote Student Share Grant
Students who meet the requirements can follow these steps.
1. Visit the official application portal
Go to the official Aliko Dangote Foundation Student Share Grant platform:
https://ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org/apply
Students should avoid application links circulated by unknown individuals on WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or other social media platforms.
2. Enter your school information
The verification platform requires applicants to provide information about their tertiary institution.
Students should enter their institution’s details exactly as requested and ensure the information is accurate.
3. Provide your matriculation number
Applicants are required to provide their matriculation number as part of the student verification process.
Students should make sure the matriculation number belongs to them and matches their school records.
4. Complete BVN verification
The application platform also requests an 11-digit Bank Verification Number (BVN) for verification.
Students should enter their own BVN and should never give their BVN, bank PIN, password or OTP to another person claiming to be an agent.
The BVN requirement is part of the Foundation’s verification process. Applicants should review the platform’s privacy information and terms before proceeding.
5. Accept the terms and verify your details
After entering the required information, applicants must accept the applicable terms and conditions and privacy notice.
They can then select the verification option to continue.
Students whose information meets the programme’s requirements can proceed to the next stage.
How Much Do Students Need to Buy the Shares?
The Dangote Refinery IPO is priced at ₦525 per share.
The Student Share Grant Initiative requires participants to subscribe to a minimum of 10 shares.
That means the minimum share subscription is:
10 × ₦525 = ₦5,250
Students should remember that applicable transaction or brokerage charges may be additional to the ₦5,250 share value.
The ₦5,250 represents the student’s own IPO investment. It is not a payment for the additional shares funded by the Foundation.
What Happens After Buying the 10 Shares?
After completing the required verification and subscribing to the minimum 10 shares, an eligible student can qualify for the Foundation to fund an application for an additional 10 Dangote Refinery shares in the student’s name.
The Foundation-funded application does not require the student to pay for those additional shares.
However, there is an important condition.
The additional 10 shares are not guaranteed. Students should not assume that completing the process automatically means they will receive 20 shares.
The Foundation-funded application remains subject to the IPO’s applicable allotment process and terms.
Therefore, the initiative gives eligible students an opportunity to have an additional 10-share application funded, but the final number of shares allotted depends on the IPO process.
When Is the Deadline?
The Dangote Refinery IPO opened on September 14, 2026, and is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026.
Students interested in the Student Share Grant Initiative should complete the required steps before the applicable deadline.
Because application procedures and offer terms can change, applicants should check the official Foundation platform and IPO information before submitting their application.
Important Warning for Students
Students should be extremely careful when looking for information about the offer online.
The official Foundation platform is the safest place to begin the application process.
Do not pay anyone who claims they can “activate” your free shares or guarantee an allotment.
The Foundation-funded additional application is provided at no additional cost to eligible participants.
Students should also never disclose:
* Bank PINs
* Online banking passwords
* OTPs
* ATM card PINs
* BVN to unofficial agents
* Other sensitive banking credentials
A legitimate application process should not require students to surrender control of their bank accounts or security credentials.
Is It Worth Applying?
The Student Share Grant Initiative may provide eligible students with an opportunity to learn about investing while participating in the capital market.
However, students should understand that buying shares involves investment risk. Share prices can rise or fall, and there is no guarantee of profit.
Students should therefore consider their financial circumstances, read the IPO documents and understand the terms before committing their money.
Nigerian Students Can Apply for Dangote Refinery’s 10 Plus Shares
Eligible Nigerian students aged 18 and above can participate in the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s Student Share Grant Initiative by completing the required verification and subscribing to at least 10 Dangote Refinery IPO shares.
At ₦525 per share, the minimum 10-share subscription costs ₦5,250, excluding applicable charges.
A qualifying participant can then have an application for an additional 10 shares funded by the Foundation.
However, the additional shares remain subject to the IPO’s allotment process, so students should not regard the programme as a guaranteed allocation of 20 shares.
Students who want to participate should use the official application platform and complete the process before the October 13, 2026 IPO deadline.
