Nigeria’s leading carrier Air Peace has announced a significant expansion of its West African flight operations, introducing more frequent connections between Lagos and several regional capitals including Abidjan, Dakar, Banjul, and Monrovia.
The development, which takes effect this week, is part of the airline’s broader strategy to strengthen intra-African connectivity and improve travel convenience across key economic hubs in the subregion. By increasing flight frequencies, Air Peace aims to reduce travel time, enhance schedule flexibility, and support both business and leisure travel within West Africa.
The expanded routes are expected to facilitate stronger trade relations, tourism flows, and cross-border collaboration among countries in the region. Aviation analysts note that improved air connectivity remains a critical factor in boosting regional integration under frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), as it enables faster movement of people, goods, and services.
Passengers traveling between Lagos and cities such as Abidjan, Dakar, Banjul, and Monrovia will now have more options to plan their trips, with enhanced connectivity designed to accommodate varying travel needs. The airline’s move also positions Lagos as a central hub for West African air travel, reinforcing its role as a gateway city in the region.
Industry stakeholders have welcomed the expansion, describing it as a positive step toward addressing longstanding gaps in intra-African flight connectivity, which has historically been limited compared to routes connecting African cities to destinations outside the continent.
Air Peace has continued to grow its regional and international footprint in recent years, and this latest expansion underscores its commitment to scaling operations while contributing to economic integration across West Africa.
