As the commencement of the 24th National Women’s Conference gets closer by the day, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu made statement on arrangements.

The First Lady of Lagos State and Chairman of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has officially announced the schedule for the 24th National Women’s Conference (NWC).

The event, themed “Soar Beyond Boundaries…Enrich Communities,” will take place from September 10th to 11th, 2024, at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Speaking at a news conference at the State House, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu said this year’s Women’s Conference focused on the challenges faced by women and empowering them to achieve their full potential.

She emphasized that the conference’s consistent impact over the years had solidified its reputation as a purpose-driven gathering that positively transforms the lives of thousands of women.

“The objective of the conference remains to empower women, support their independence, and help them realize their full potential, which will, in turn, influence their families, communities, and the nation,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

She disclosed that the conference would feature a combination of virtual and physical participation, with an expected turnout of 3,000 physical participants and 1,500 virtual attendees from various sectors, including Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), political groups, civil society, among others.

Sanwo-Olu listed key topics to be addressed at the conference to include “Communicable Diseases: Recognition and Strategies for Prevention and Management,” “Challenging Gender Stereotypes: The Role of Empathy and Emotional Intelligence of the Boy-Child,” “Smart Garden Farming: Pathway to Food Security,” “Climate Change and Women’s Health,” and “Advancing Women’s Political Participation: The Role of Legislation, Education, and Mentorship.”

She added that special guests at the event would include Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, and Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, who would add colour and glamour to the conference through their participation in various ceremonies.

Sanwo-Olu also highlighted the highpoint of the conference, which will be the presentation of the Inspirational Woman of the Year award.

This prestigious award recognizes individuals for their exceptional contributions to society.

In addition to the conference sessions, she said participants would have access to COWLSO Virtual and Physical Markets, where they could purchase household items at subsidized rates from accredited vendors.

She stated that the conference would also feature a Gala Night with entertainment, raffle draws, and prizes, including opportunities for new home and car ownership.
