Nestlé Nigeria celebrates a new chapter in youth empowerment with first graduates from Flowergate Technical Training Centre

Nestlé Nigeria has taken a bold step toward shaping the future of the country’s workforce, marking a significant milestone with the graduation of 20 young men and women from its Technical Training Centre (TTC) in Flowergate. This ceremony, the first of its kind at the Flowergate facility, highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and technical skill development.

Established in 2023, the Flowergate TTC is the latest addition to Nestlé Nigeria’s broader technical training initiative, which has been nurturing Nigerian talent since 2011. Over the years, more than 200 young Nigerians have successfully completed the rigorous 18-month program, gaining critical skills that set them on a path toward a promising career in the industrial sector. Nestlé’s investment in this initiative exceeds six billion naira, reflecting its deep-seated belief in the potential of Nigeria’s youth to shape the nation’s industrial future.

At the graduation event, Managing Director and CEO of Nestlé Nigeria, Mr. Wassim Elhusseini, expressed pride in the accomplishments of the graduates. “For over 13 years, we have been dedicated to nurturing young talent, reflecting our confidence in this generation’s ability to shape the future. This year, we celebrate the graduation of 70 skilled professionals across all our centers, including Agbara and Abaji, all of whom have joined our team. This program goes beyond technical training—it empowers young people to take charge of their futures, achieve financial independence, and become agents of positive change. Their success ripples through families, strengthens communities, and fosters growth in the industry.”

Nestlé Nigeria’s Technical Training Program offers a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on engineering experience, culminating in the prestigious City and Guilds of London Technicians’ Certification, enhancing participants’ employability and opening doors to numerous career opportunities.

The event was graced by notable community figures, including His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, who commended the initiative. Other esteemed attendees included Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, President of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria; Mr. Adewale Jones, Executive Secretary of the Association of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Employers; Oluwatoyin Naiwo, Registrar and Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria; and representatives from the Nigerian Employers Consultative Association (NECA). Tumi Onamade represented the Alliance for Youth Initiative, underscoring the broad support for Nestlé’s youth-focused programs.

Beyond the technical training, Nestlé Nigeria’s commitment to empowering the next generation is exemplified by its Nestlé Needs YOUth initiative, which annually provides approximately 25,000 young people with access to economic opportunities. This forward-thinking strategy is equipping Nigerian youth with the tools and expertise needed to thrive in an increasingly complex and evolving industrial landscape, ensuring they are well-prepared for the future.

As Nestlé Nigeria continues to invest in youth development, the success of its graduates not only boosts individual careers but also strengthens the fabric of society, driving sustainable growth and innovation across the country’s industrial sector.
