The romantic moment was made even more memorable as Nigerian music legend 2Baba’s classic love song, African Queen was played.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, honoured his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, with a bouquet of flowers and a kiss at the opening ceremony of the 26th Annual National Women’s Conference on Tuesday.
The conference, organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) and chaired by the First Lady, is held under the theme “Anchored in Purpose: Be the Blueprint.”
While delivering his address, the governor paused midway to celebrate his wife for her leadership and contributions to the state through COWLSO.
Presenting the bouquet, Sanwo-Olu said, “On behalf of COWLSO and everything that is decent, we want to appreciate you, we want to honour you.”
Dr. Ibijoke, seated among dignitaries, was visibly delighted as she received the flowers with a smile, then shared a warm embrace and a kiss with her husband.
The romantic moment was made even more memorable as Nigerian music legend 2Baba’s classic love song, African Queen, played softly in the background, eliciting cheers and applause from women and other guests in the hall.
The gesture quickly became a talking point on social media after a video of the moment surfaced online, with many Nigerians describing the couple as an example of enduring love.
Governor Sanwo-Olu and his wife have been married for years and are known for publicly celebrating each other at official functions and family milestones.
The annual COWLSO National Women’s Conference brings together women leaders, professionals, and stakeholders from across the country for discussions aimed at inspiring women, empowering leaders, and promoting a purposeful future.
This year’s edition continues with panel sessions, exhibitions, and empowerment programmes for participants.
