Yemi Solade made known how he was able to survive and sustain 21-year in marriage.
Nollywood actor and star, Yemi Solade, has revealed how he has sustained his 21-year marriage with Hannah, his wife.
While on Nollywood Radio, the 64-year-old movie producer said his wife has been the backbone of their relationship. He attributed much of their success to Hannah’s support and ability to manage him through the ups and downs of life.
Solade, who has been featured in every Wale Adenuga series, including Papa Ajasco, Super Story, This Life, and Odd World, added that the secret to their successful marriage lies in the friendship they share.
“I give it to my wife. She manages me very well. She is been very tolerant; she perseveres a lot. My wife, apart from every other thing, is just a normal person. She is very selfless, she sacrifices more than anybody I know in this world. She is God-sent,” Solade said.
“She understands when I have and when I don’t have. She is not ostentatious. Anything I give to her, she prays for me, and that goes a long way.
“Marriage is more like friendship because it is a life contract”.
The actor further addressed rumours that he demands sexual favours in exchange for movie roles.
Solade denied the allegations, clarifying that as an actor, he has no control over casting. He also praised his wife for her calmness in the face of such rumours.
“Once I show her and say ‘Honey, sorry, something is brewing,’ and then she says ‘just be careful’, that is all. My wife is a very peaceful person; otherwise, we would not be together for 22 years now,” he added.
Yemi and Hannah Marsh Solade, a woman he met while on the set of Wale Adenuga’s “Super Story”, got married after he divorced his first wife, a Shohuarab lady, on a religious basis.
He revealed in an interview that her parents wanted to Islamise him.
Solade and Hannah’s union is blessed with two children, a girl and a boy – Rola Solade and Femi Solade.
Solade started acting when he was 17, during Festac 77, an Arts and Culture Festival held in 1977.
His first appearance on stage was during a 45-minutes-monologue, titled “Crazy Youngie”, where he played the role of a passenger and driver.
As a young Surulere boy, he was the dance champion in Lagos State for 3 years in a row that he represented Africa in world dance competitions in Spain.
