Dr. Emmanuel Ahmadu, a Nigerian who sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 17 times, has been awarded a distinction from the esteemed London Graduate School in the UK.
Ahmadu, a mental health advocate and accomplished professional based in the United States, shared the news in an exclusive interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.
He also announced his recent induction as a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC) in Lagos.
The formal induction and certification workshop, held on Nov. 26, took place simultaneously in Lagos and the UK, where Ahmadu was recognised for his exceptional contributions.
According to Ahmadu, these dual accolades are a testament to his remarkable journey, from facing personal challenges—such as writing the O’level exams 17 times due to family instability—to becoming a globally recognised leader in mental health advocacy and consultancy.
He emphasised that his new achievements would enhance his global impact, allowing him to contribute further to tackling mental health challenges, especially among Generation Z, teenagers, and adolescents.
“My Fellowship, the highest membership grade in the Institute of Management Consultants, positions me as a thought leader, equipped to provide innovative solutions to address depression and suicide,” Ahmadu said.
“This recognition is not just a personal milestone, but a crucial step in the global fight against mental health crises. It serves as a call to action to develop solutions that foster hope and resilience.”
The Institute of Management Consultants praised Ahmadu for his “outstanding academic and professional standing” and his dedication to upholding the highest global standards in management consulting.
Ahmadu added: “My certification as a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) further strengthens my credentials, allowing me to offer my expertise in over 50 countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom.”
He shared that his personal story of resilience, including attending 16 primary schools and 14 secondary schools due to a turbulent childhood, has inspired millions worldwide.
Despite these challenges, Ahmadu earned two honorary doctorates and published in prominent mental health journals.
On Instagram (@mr.voiceover), he expressed his gratitude, saying: “Nothing is impossible with God. I’m forever grateful for this life-changing moment and determined to keep pushing forward in my journey to make a positive difference in the world. Glory be to God almighty.”
Prof. David Iornem, Director-General of IMC Nigeria, who attended the induction, remarked that Ahmadu “exemplifies the transformative power of resilience.” He added, “His expertise and leadership will undoubtedly elevate global efforts in mental health advocacy and management consultancy.”
