      Uber has introduced a new hotel booking feature within its app as part of its strategy to evolve into a comprehensive “everything app.” The service, developed in partnership with Expedia, allows users to search and reserve hotel rooms from a selection of more than 700,000 properties. The feature integrates travel tools such as maps, filters, and pricing options, while enabling payments through saved card details already stored in the Uber platform. According to Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, the company is expanding beyond ride-hailing and food delivery to become a unified platform for a wide range of everyday services. Expedia CEO Ariane Gorin said the collaboration is aimed at simplifying travel planning and reducing the steps required to complete bookings. Uber also plans to extend the partnership to include short-term rental listings through Vrbo in the future. The move reflects a broader global trend toward multifunctional apps that combine services like transport, shopping, and payments in a single ecosystem, similar to platforms such as WeChat and Alipay in China. Other tech companies are also pursuing similar “super app” models, including Airbnb, which has added experiences and personal services, and X, which is exploring financial services integration. Uber further revealed plans to incorporate AI-powered tools, including meal planning, shopping list creation, delivery coordination, and a voice assistant for navigating the app.

    GOVERNOR OYEBANJI SHOWS GRATITUDE TO PRESIDENT, OTHERS OVER DAUGHTER’S WEDDING

    Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji wishes to express appreciation to friends, family members, dignitaries and national leaders that graced the wedding ceremony of his daughter, Toluwanimi and her husband, Ayodeji Akinyemi in Ibadan at the weekend.

    Governor Oyebanji describes the avalanche of love and support extended to the family as humbling, and expresses profound gratitude to the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, who represented the President at the event; and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau.

    The Governor in a statement also expresses special thanks to all his colleagues in the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) led by Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; all former Governors of Ekiti State – Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo and wife, Erelu Angela Adebayo; Chief Ayodele Fayose and wife, Mrs Feyisetan Fayose; Engr Segun Oni and wife, Mrs Kemi Oni; and Dr Kayode Fayemi and wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; as well as former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande; former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba and former Ondo State Governor, Dr Rahman Mimiko and wife, Mrs Olukemi Mimiko; the honourable Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa and wife; and the Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu.

    He also expresses profound gratitude to the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, who led other distinguished senators and members of the House of Representatives; Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye and all former deputy Governors in the state- Chief Paul Alabi, Senator Biodun Olujimi, Surveyor Abiodun Aluko, Prof Modupe Adelabu, Prof Kolapo Isola Eleka; Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Princess Patricia Obila; all current and former first ladies; former Osun State Deputy Governor and immediate past national secretary of APC, Chief Iyiola Omisore; the Speaker and members of Ekiti State House of Assembly as well as members of Ekiti State executive council; Justice Oyebisi Omoleye (JCA); Acting Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Hon Justice Lekan Ogunmoye; President Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Oluwatoyin Abodunde and other justices of Ekiti State judiciary; chairmen of parastatals and local government chairmen in the state.

    “I deeply appreciate the chairman of the reception, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) and wife, Chief (Mrs) Omolare Olanipekun; Yeye Aare Modupe Babalola, who represented Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) and who led the ABUAD delegation; the Royal Fathers of the Day, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba (Dr.) Rufus Adejugbe; Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Oba Oba Ayorinde Ilori-Faboro; and all other eminent royal fathers that graced the event.
