Delta Deputy gov prefers zoning as important to political stability

Delta Deputy gov prefers zoning as important to political stability

The Delta State Deputy Governor, Mr. Monday Onyeme, has reaffirmed that zoning remains a vital factor in maintaining the state’s political stability.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency Forum at Oharisi Primary School, Ughelli, on Saturday, Onyeme emphasized that the zoning arrangement has been instrumental in reinforcing the Peoples Democratic Party’s dominance in Delta by ensuring equitable power distribution among its diverse ethnic groups.

“As the 2027 elections approach, zoning remains a vital factor in Delta’s political stability and the Peoples Democratic Party’s continued dominance in the state,” Onyeme stated.

He highlighted the longstanding role of power rotation in shaping Delta’s political landscape, particularly in the governorship race.

“Delta is a very peaceful state, and since 1999, we have been the pioneers of governorship rotation. It has worked well for us.

“All previous governors have completed two terms, and this time will be no different because Governor Oborevwori dey work, and Deltans dey see am,(sic)” he said.

He further noted that Oborevwori’s administration is making significant infrastructural strides, partnering with Julius Berger and other reputable construction firms to execute transformative projects across the state.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Emomotimi Guwor, underscored the forum’s commitment to Governor Oborevwori’s re-election bid.

“What we have done today is to demonstrate that this Federal Constituency stands united in returning Governor Oborevwori to Government House in 2027,” Guwor said.

He expressed confidence that PDP would sweep all eight local government areas in Delta Central, adding, “Governor Oborevwori will win again with the massive support of Deltans.”

Echoing similar sentiments, leaders of the forum declared that the people of Delta South and other regions remained unwavering in their support for Oborevwori’s re-election.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, Olorogun Oguma assured that members would work tirelessly to ensure the governor’s victory in 2027.
