Tinubu announces approval of the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
President Bola Tinubu on Friday danced to his party’s viral ‘On Your Mandate’ campaign anthem during the All Progressives Congress rally in Akwa Ibom State.
Tinubu was seen dancing as the song played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, where he attended a reception and rally organised in his honour.
The President was in the state to inaugurate projects executed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration.
The rally attracted party supporters and political leaders, with the governor using the occasion to pledge two million votes for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Eno said Akwa Ibom would deliver the votes if the Federal Government fulfilled its promise to deliver the long-awaited Ibom Deep Seaport.
“Give us Ibom Deep Seaport, we will deliver two million votes. This deep seaport is capable of unlocking the economy of the state, the South-South region and Nigeria at large,” the governor said.
Responding to the request, Tinubu announced his approval of the project.
“I heard from my friend, my governor, my pastor, on behalf of the people and leadership of Akwa Ibom, request for Ibom’s deep-sea port,” he said.
After asking the crowd, “Will you vote?”, the President declared, “Okay, It’s approved.”
The Ibom Deep Seaport was conceived during the administration of former Governor Victor Attah as the Ibaka Deep Seaport and Industrial City.
The project is expected to boost maritime activities, create jobs and open Akwa Ibom to international trade and investment.
