I abstain from my Nollywood colleagues after marriage – Opeyemi Aiyeola

Veteran actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has opened up on the reason for going off the radar, blocking her Nollywood colleagues after tying the knot.

While in an interview on Oyinmomo TV, the actress said she intentionally cut ties with everyone in the movie industry for more than 10 years after relocating to the United States with her husband, Olayiwola Abdulwakilu.

According to her, this was to protect her marriage from the industry drama and avoid becoming another statistic in the growing trend of broken celebrity homes.

“I was off the scene for more than ten years, and I apologised to my fans. I held my marriage in high esteem, so I blocked everybody’s contact in the industry,” she explained.

The mother of two added that the decision was a sacrifice she willingly made to keep her family intact.

“People don’t know what happens behind those relationships. Some say practitioners don’t have stable homes, but I didn’t want my own to be like that, so I blocked everyone for 10 years,” she said.

Now back in the industry, Opeyemi says it’s time to focus fully on her career.

“I unblocked everybody when I finally returned. I have two boys, and I have sacrificed everything for them. Now, they should allow me to also carve my own career,” she added.
