Morocco Reports Nigeria To CAF Saying 2 Super Falcons Players Are Strangers

Morocco has filed a petition to CAF questioning the eligibility of two players who played for the women’s team of Nigeria in the final of the 2025 WAFCON tournament, a game the Super Falcons won 3-2 on Saturday night.
Ashleigh Plumptre was granted approval by FIFA to play for Nigeria in 2021 after it was established that her paternal grandfather is a Nigerian.
Alozie, on the other hand, was born in the United States to immigrant parents from Nigeria.
The host nation scored two early goals and went into the half-time break with a 2-0 lead, only to lose 2-3 in the end to secure a 10th WAFCON title for Nigeria.
Before the match, however, Morocco protested the eligibility of two of the Nigerian players in Ashleigh Plumptre and Michelle Alozie, claiming the two defenders were not Nigerian.
According to the host nation of the 2025 WAFCON tournament, the manner of Plumptre and Alozie’s switch of nationality is questionable, and Nigeria must lose the title they won as a result.
Nigeria is currently unbothered about the protest, with a top member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) recently describing it as a complaint that is dead on arrival.
