The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will kick off its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Lagos State on Monday, August 18, 2025.
The exercise will cover all 20 local government area offices in the state, beginning with an online pre-registration phase, followed by physical biometric capturing from Monday, August 25, 2025.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Salami Ayobami, said the CVR will run until August 30, 2026. Physical registration will take place Mondays to Fridays, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., at all INEC LGA offices and the state secretariat. Nigerians already in the queue by 3:00 p.m. will still be attended to.
Those eligible to take part include citizens aged 18 and above, individuals replacing lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), those transferring voting locations within or across states, and persons updating details such as name, address, or marital status.
Prof. Ayobami issued a stern warning against underage registration and multiple registrations, stressing that offenders will be handed over to law enforcement agencies.
