FG Partners with Banks to Give Youths Jobs, Training, and Support through YEIDEP

… programme is expected to make youths more productive towards a better nation.
The Federal Government has called on different partners to help fight poverty, joblessness, and insecurity among Nigerian youth. This will be done through the Youth Economic Intervention and Deregulation Program (YEIDEP).
At the YEIDEP Stakeholders Retreat, the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, said young people are facing many problems such as hardship, crime, and unemployment. He explained that the best way to solve this is by creating more lasting job opportunities, especially in agriculture and related businesses.
The Minister also told partners to take full responsibility for making YEIDEP successful. He said they must plan well, set clear targets, and make sure progress can be tracked at every stage. He stressed that YEIDEP is not just another government plan but a national mission that is very important for Nigeria’s peace and progress.
Banks Join YEIDEP to Support Beneficiaries
Giving updates on financial partnerships, the Ministry announced that 9 out of 20 invited banks have already joined YEIDEP. These banks have opened accounts, registered beneficiaries, and started financial processes. About 3 to 4 more banks are expected to join soon.
It was also revealed that registration for the first set of beneficiaries is complete. Over 8,000 young Nigerians have already been verified and enrolled. To manage them well, banks are being grouped into clusters, and strict monitoring systems with timelines have been put in place.
YEIDEP Aims to Empower Youths for National Growth
YEIDEP Coordinator, Comrade Kennedy Iyere, described the programme as a “necessary revolution” that Nigeria needs for survival and growth. He said Nigeria’s problem is not lack of resources but weak leadership in the past.
He assured that YEIDEP will give young Nigerians the skills, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed. The programme is designed to make youths more productive, stronger, and ready to contribute to the country’s future.
