Journalist Cindy Onajite Atirene named President of TVC Women’s Network

Crime and broadcast journalist Cindy Onajite Atirene, popularly known as Najite, has been named President of the TVC Women’s Network (TVCWN), the internal empowerment platform of TVC Communications. She will serve in this capacity for two years (2025 to 2027).

The TVC Women’s Network was established as part of TVC Communications’ drive to provide women within the organisation with a platform for professional development, mentorship, and community engagement. Over the years, the network has become a rallying point for female staff members, championing empowerment initiatives while extending its impact into local communities through outreach programmes, mentorship opportunities, and competitions that give young women and girls a voice.

While speaking on her election, Najite expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in her by colleagues, while pledging to steer the network towards greater visibility and deeper impact. “This role is not just about me. It is about using the TVC Women’s Network as a vehicle to amplify women’s voices, empower young girls, and touch the lives of children in ways that shape a better future for our society,” she said.

Currently serving as Head of News at Yanga FM, a sister station under TVC Communications, Najite brings to the role a wealth of professional experience and a passion for advocacy. Over the years, she has used her platform in journalism to address critical social issues such as child protection, sexual abuse, drug abuse, teenage cultism, and gangsterism. Her campaigns and reporting have consistently shed light on the vulnerabilities of children and young people, sparking conversations that drive social change.

Her election underscores TVC Communications’ commitment to creating inclusive spaces for women, while also highlighting the growing recognition of female leadership in Nigeria’s media industry.
