… Presenting Davido on the globe
Davido Recording Academy membership has been officially confirmed, giving the Afrobeats superstar the prestigious opportunity to vote in the 2026 GRAMMY Awards.
This development positions the Nigerian hitmaker among the world’s most influential music professionals shaping the future of global sound.
The Recording Academy, organisers of the GRAMMYs, made the announcement via Instagram, featuring Davido in a promotional video alongside other new members such as Offset, Jessie Reyez, and Ravyn Lenae.
The post highlighted the dedication required to create music and the vital role members play in recognising that work.
Davido, who received three GRAMMY nominations in 2024, expressed deep gratitude for the honour, describing it as a “game-changer” in his artistic journey.
“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard, I am participating in the GRAMMY Award process.I’ve learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season,” Davido said. “I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community, and I look forward to voting.”
This latest recognition is seen as part of the Recording Academy’s ongoing effort to diversify its membership and increase representation from Africa and other global music markets.
The initiative underscores the rising global influence of Afrobeats and Davido’s continued impact on the international music scene.
Voting for the 2026 GRAMMYs is scheduled to begin on 3 October, with the Academy urging members to engage early in the nomination and final-ballot processes.
As a leading voice in African music, Davido’s inclusion signals a powerful shift towards global inclusion and validates the reach and relevance of contemporary African artistry in world music.
