Uber has introduced a new hotel booking feature within its app as part of its strategy to evolve into a comprehensive “everything app.” The service, developed in partnership with Expedia, allows users to search and reserve hotel rooms from a selection of more than 700,000 properties. The feature integrates travel tools such as maps, filters, and pricing options, while enabling payments through saved card details already stored in the Uber platform. According to Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, the company is expanding beyond ride-hailing and food delivery to become a unified platform for a wide range of everyday services. Expedia CEO Ariane Gorin said the collaboration is aimed at simplifying travel planning and reducing the steps required to complete bookings. Uber also plans to extend the partnership to include short-term rental listings through Vrbo in the future. The move reflects a broader global trend toward multifunctional apps that combine services like transport, shopping, and payments in a single ecosystem, similar to platforms such as WeChat and Alipay in China. Other tech companies are also pursuing similar “super app” models, including Airbnb, which has added experiences and personal services, and X, which is exploring financial services integration. Uber further revealed plans to incorporate AI-powered tools, including meal planning, shopping list creation, delivery coordination, and a voice assistant for navigating the app.

FG, states, LGs share N1.93tn November revenue ~ FAAC

The Federal Government, states and local government areas shared a total of N1.928tn as Federation Account revenue for November 2025, reflecting a decline from the N2.094tn shared in October.

The revenue was shared at the December 2025 meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee held in Abuja, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa.

The statement read, “A total sum of N1.928tn, being November 2025 Federation Account Revenue, has been shared to the Federal Government, States and the Local Government Councils.”

The November allocation dropped by N166bn, representing a 7.93 per cent month-on-month decline, compared with the N2.094tn shared in October.

This was a significantly steeper fall than the marginal N9bn or 0.43 per cent decrease recorded between September and October, when allocations declined from N2.103tn to N2.094tn.

The FAAC communiqué cited in the statement explained that the N1.928tn distributable revenue for November consisted of N1.403tn from statutory revenue, N485.838bn from Value Added Tax and N39.646bn from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy.

It added that a total gross revenue of N2.343tn was available for the month, out of which N84.251bn was deducted as cost of collection, while N330.625bn was set aside for transfers, interventions, refunds and savings.

According to the communiqué, revenue inflows weakened considerably during the month, especially from both oil and non-oil tax sources.

“Gross statutory revenue of N1.736tn was received for the month of November 2025. This was lower than the sum of N2.164tn received in the month of October 2025 by N427.969bn,” the statement added.

Similarly, gross VAT revenue fell to N563.042bn in November, down by N156.785bn from the N719.827bn generated in October.

From the N1.928tn shared, the Federal Government received N747.159bn, state governments got N601.731bn, while local government councils received N445.266bn. Oil-producing states also received N134.355bn as 13 per cent derivation revenue.

A breakdown showed that from the N1.403tn statutory revenue, the Federal Government got N668.336bn, states received N338.989bn, and local governments received N261.346bn, in addition to the derivation allocation.

From the N485.838bn VAT pool, the Federal Government received N72.876bn, states got N242.919bn, and local governments received N170.043bn.

Revenue from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy was also shared, with the Federal Government receiving N5.947bn, states N19.823bn and local governments N13.876bn.

The FAAC communiqué attributed the lower November allocation to broad-based declines across major revenue lines, noting that while excise duty recorded a moderate increase, key sources such as Petroleum Profit Tax, Hydrocarbon Tax, Companies Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, oil and gas royalties, import duty, CET levies, VAT, EMTL and fees recorded significant drops.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Mohammed Shehu, had earlier said inflows into the Federation Account rose to N23.06tn in the first 10 months of 2025, attributing the increase to fiscal reforms, stronger audits and improved coordination among revenue agencies.

A recent BudgIT State of States Report revealed that more than 30 states depend heavily on FAAC allocations, underscoring mounting fiscal pressures across the country.

The report showed that 31 states relied on FAAC for at least 80 per cent of their current revenue, while 29 states depended on FAAC for at least half of their total revenue.

It added that 28 states relied on FAAC for at least 55 per cent of their revenue, and 21 states depended on it for over 70 per cent.
