IKEDC Announces Feb 20 Deadline For Customer Tax Details

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company has asked all its customers to submit valid identification details on or before February 20, 2026, to avoid disruption of electricity services.

The company made this known in a public notice issued in Lagos on Wednesday. It said the request is in line with the Nigeria Tax Act (2025), which took effect on January 1, 2026. Under the new law, every invoice issued in the country, including electricity bills, must contain at least one approved identification detail.

According to IKEDC, customers are expected to provide either their Tax Identification Number, Corporate Affairs Commission registration number, or National Identification Number. The company stated that the information will be reflected on electricity bills starting from January 2026 and in later bills.

It warned that customers who fail to provide any of the required details before the deadline may stop receiving electricity bills. The company also stated that invoices issued without the necessary identification details would not be regarded as valid under the law.

IKEDC further explained that continued non-compliance after February 20 could lead to suspension of electricity supply, as the company must operate within the provisions of the new tax law.

The distribution firm appealed to customers to complete the designated form and submit the required information without delay to avoid any interruption in service. It expressed appreciation to its customers and urged them to cooperate so that billing and supply can continue without issues.
