Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has inaugurated multiple infrastructure and institutional projects in Anka Local Government Area, describing the interventions as part of a broader drive toward sustainable development and improved public services across the state.
The projects commissioned include the reconstruction and upgrade of the Emir of Anka’s palace, the commencement of work on the Anka–Abbare Road, and the construction of a new local government secretariat. Additional facilities unveiled comprise offices for the Hisbah Commission and Community Protection Guards, as well as a reconstructed Safe School intended to strengthen educational safety and capacity in the area.
Speaking at the event, the governor said the initiatives fulfill campaign promises and are designed to transform local infrastructure, enhance economic activity, and strengthen administrative efficiency and security operations. He appealed to residents to safeguard the new assets, stressing that public facilities require collective responsibility for long-term sustainability.
Lawal disclosed that similar development projects had recently been completed in Tsafe and that further works are underway in Kaura Namoda, Moriki, Bungudu, Bukkuyum, and Zurmi, all targeted for completion before the end of the year. He said the timeline reflects the administration’s urgency in addressing development gaps across multiple communities.
“I stand here in Anka today to honor our commitments to the people of Anka Local Government and all of Zamfara State. The official opening of the new palace for the ‘Sarkin Zamfaran Anka’ and the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs is a significant milestone that wraps up today’s agenda,” the governor said.
He described the Anka–Abbare Road as a strategic corridor expected to improve access to remote settlements, facilitate trade, and stimulate economic activities within the local economy. Lawal added that the new secretariat and security offices would provide a more conducive working environment for civil servants while reinforcing law enforcement capacity.
“Education is the cornerstone of any thriving society. Our focused initiatives are oriented towards fostering a safe, secure, and supportive environment for our students. I am also proud to announce the completion and commissioning of the reconstructed SAFE School Anka today,” he stated.
The governor also emphasized the importance of traditional institutions, noting that the upgraded palace represents a restoration of the authority and heritage of local leadership structures, which he described as vital partners in governance and community stability.
He concluded that after the commissioning activities in Anka and Tsafe, upcoming inaugurations in Kaura Namoda and Moriki will follow, while projects in Bungudu, Bukkuyum, and Zurmi remain on schedule for completion and formal unveiling before year’s end.
