A new “Loud & Clear” report released by Spotify has revealed that Nigerian artists generated more than ₦60 billion in revenue from the streaming platform in 2025, underscoring the growing global influence of the Afrobeats sound and the expanding reach of Nigerian music.
The report, published as part of Spotify’s annual transparency initiative, shows that earnings by Nigerian artists on the platform have surged significantly, recording a 140 percent increase over the past two years. Industry observers say the development reflects the rising international demand for Afrobeats and the increasing visibility of Nigerian musicians on global streaming platforms.
Spotify said the growth highlights the impact of digital streaming on the Nigerian music industry, with more artists reaching global audiences and earning substantial royalties from their recordings. A representative of the company said the figures demonstrate the expanding footprint of Nigerian music beyond the country’s borders.
“Nigerian artists are continuing to break boundaries and connect with listeners across the world,” the Spotify official said. “The growth we are seeing reflects both the global appetite for Afrobeats and the creativity of the artists driving the movement.”
The report also noted that a growing number of Nigerian artists are now earning sustainable income from streaming as their music gains traction across multiple international markets. According to Spotify, listeners from different regions are increasingly adding Nigerian songs to their playlists, boosting overall streams and revenue for the artists.
Music industry analysts say the figures further confirm the global dominance of the Afrobeats genre, which has gained massive popularity through international collaborations, viral social media trends and increased exposure on streaming platforms.
One industry analyst said the latest milestone reflects years of steady growth for Nigerian music. “The success of Afrobeats globally has created new economic opportunities for Nigerian artists, producers and other stakeholders in the music value chain,” the analyst said.
Spotify added that it will continue supporting emerging talents and established artists by providing tools and opportunities to reach wider audiences worldwide.
The latest figures reinforce Nigeria’s growing cultural influence in the global music ecosystem, as Afrobeats continues to attract millions of listeners and strengthen the country’s position as a major creative hub in Africa and beyond.
