Security operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have uncovered an illegal “baby factory” operating in the Badagry area of Lagos. During the raid, a total of 18 pregnant women and 10 children were rescued from the facility.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the operation allegedly involved trafficking newborn babies, with reports indicating that infants were sold for as much as ₦1 million each. Authorities say the victims are now in protective custody and receiving medical attention, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate.
The NSCDC has condemned the act, describing it as a serious violation of human rights and a form of human trafficking. Officials have assured the public that those responsible will face prosecution, and they urged residents to report any suspicious activities in their communities.
This incident adds to growing concerns about illegal baby trafficking networks in parts of Nigeria, with law enforcement agencies intensifying efforts to dismantle such operations and protect vulnerable women and children.
