President Bola Tinubu has expressed Nigeria’s solidarity with Gulf nations affected by the escalating fallout from the United States/Israel–Iran conflict, emphasizing the country’s commitment to global peace and stability.
The President made the remarks during a formal ceremony at the State House in Abuja, where he received Letters of Credence from newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners.
At the event, Tinubu conveyed Nigeria’s support for countries in the Gulf region, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as other affected states such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Jordan. He acknowledged the tensions and recent attacks linked to the conflict and commended the affected nations for their restraint and resilience.
According to him, Nigeria stands in full solidarity with these countries during this period of instability and will continue to advocate for peace.
“The Federal Republic of Nigeria expresses its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and others in the region in the face of recent attacks. We will always strive for peace and stability across the world. The world needs tranquillity, peace and love,” the President said.
Tinubu stressed that Nigeria remains committed to working with international partners to promote peace both within Africa and globally. He described the presentation of Letters of Credence as a significant milestone in strengthening diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the represented countries.
During the ceremony, several envoys formally presented their credentials, including ambassadors from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, Argentina, and Congo, as well as high commissioners from Namibia and Rwanda.
The President reiterated Nigeria’s openness to cooperation, noting that the country would continue to engage constructively with other nations to address global challenges and maintain stability.
The presentation of Letters of Credence is a standard diplomatic procedure that formally recognizes foreign envoys as official representatives of their countries, allowing them to begin their duties in Nigeria.
