The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken popular Nigerian influencer Blessing CEO to court over an alleged ₦36 million rent scam.
According to the charges, Blessing CEO—whose real name is Blessing Okoro Nkiruka—was accused of collecting ₦36 million from a woman, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye, under the false claim that she could secure a six-bedroom duplex for rent in Lekki, Lagos. The alleged incident occurred between July 14 and 17, 2024.
She pleaded not guilty to the two charges brought against her. Her lawyer informed the court that she had already refunded ₦24 million and requested time to repay the remaining balance, suggesting that the complainant might withdraw the case once full payment is made.
However, the presiding judge, Justice D.I. Dipeolu, rejected this argument, clarifying that the case is a criminal matter involving the federal government—not just a personal dispute—so repayment alone cannot end the trial.
The court ordered that she remain in EFCC custody until she meets her bail conditions. The case has been adjourned to June 5, 2026, when the trial is expected to begin.
Background and Previous Controversies
This is not the first time Blessing CEO has faced public controversy. Earlier in 2026, she was widely criticized after claiming she had stage 4 cancer and reportedly received about ₦13 million in donations from Nigerians. Many later questioned the authenticity of her claim.
She has also been involved in past incidents, including falsely claiming ownership of a mansion in 2019, which led to her public apology after being exposed.
Blessing CEO is known online for her bold and often controversial opinions on relationships and lifestyle topics. She hails from Ebonyi State and has built a strong social media presence over the years.
