    President Bola Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu will on Thursday officially unveil the N2.4tn Abuja City Walk development, a 250-hectare mixed-use urban district located along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport corridor in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to a report by MoneyCentral, the ceremony is scheduled to hold from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Plot 28, Cadastral Zone C17, Industrial Area II, Abuja, marking the commencement of physical construction on the flagship project.

The development is being promoted by MAG Group, the parent company of MAG International Links Limited, in a joint venture with Link Developments.

As part of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding is expected to be signed between Link Developments and Saudi royal Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Khalid bin Turki Al Saud, who is also billed to address investors.

The Nigeria-Arab Gulf Chamber of Commerce is also expected to make commitment remarks, underscoring growing investment interest from Gulf-based institutions in Nigeria’s real estate sector.

The project is located within a designated Free Trade Zone established by the Federal Government to provide tax incentives and a favourable regulatory environment to attract long-term foreign investment.

Designed by international architecture firm Benoy, the Abuja City Walk masterplan will feature a 450-metre skyscraper projected to become Africa’s tallest tower, housing commercial offices, hospitality facilities and luxury residences.

The development will also include a 13,000-seat indoor arena expected to become Nigeria’s largest indoor sports and entertainment venue, alongside an arts district with about 12,000 square metres of exhibition and performance spaces.

Other features include “The Living Ravine,” an ecological corridor built around a sustainable “Sponge District” concept that uses wetlands, swales and green waterways for flood management, rainwater harvesting and climate resilience.

The report stated that the ecological corridor has been shortlisted for the 2026 World Landscape Architecture Awards.

MoneyCentral further reported that the project gained momentum following reforms by the Federal Capital Territory Administration under the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, aimed at recovering dormant land allocations.

The land, originally allocated to the Abuja Technology Village, had remained largely undeveloped for over two decades before the administration completed outstanding regulatory approvals, issued the Certificate of Occupancy and committed to constructing access roads to the site.

In return, the developers agreed to execute the project under a phased construction schedule.

The Abuja City Walk project was formally agreed in June 2025, when MAG International Links Limited and Link Developments signed a joint venture agreement to develop the 250-hectare mixed-use district. At the time, the partners said the project would combine residential, commercial, hospitality, entertainment and cultural facilities while positioning Abuja as a regional investment and tourism hub.

Speaking about the benefits of the project, Wike said it would take place on the site originally allocated for Abuja Technology Village in Lugbe, along Airport Road, which had remained undeveloped for the past 20 years.

“I want to make it clear that we have had problems with land grabbers in Abuja Technology Village; even those in the technology village are part of the problems.

“In the past 20 years, nothing has happened in the area, and therefore, I would not like to use this opportunity that we have seen investors who really want to invest and develop the land for the good of the city.

“If anybody has gone to Dubai and has seen the City Walk, there is no way you will not appreciate and encourage investors that are willing to do the same in Abuja.

“This is because the whole essence of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ is not only to bring investors, but also to create employment for our people.”
