The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced registration for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes in Colleges of Education and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes offered by polytechnics nationwide.

A statement issued by Fabian Benjamin – Acting Director Public Affairs and Protocol of the board, on Thursday, said eligible candidates can register at any Institutional Professional Registration Centre (IPRC) located in Colleges of Education or any JAMB Professional Registration Centre (PRC), provided they possess the required O’Level credits.

JAMB explained that the exercise follows the Federal Government’s decision to waive the requirement for candidates applying for admission into NCE and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to the board, a new admission process has been put in place to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted into the programmes despite the exemption from the UTME.

“As previously announced, the Federal Government has waived the requirement for candidates seeking admission into NCE and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Consequently, JAMB has developed a robust admission process to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted, thereby maintaining and enhancing the quality and standards of these programmes,” the statement said.

JAMB noted that under the new arrangement, eligible applicants are only required to present their O’Level credentials at any designated registration centre to complete the admission process.

It added: “Under this policy, eligible candidates only need to visit any designated IPRC or JAMB PRC with their O’Level credentials to complete their registration. There is no requirement to sit for the annual UTME.”

The examination body encouraged prospective candidates to take advantage of the opportunity by completing their registration without delay.

It further disclosed that candidates who participated in the 2026 UTME but later opted to pursue NCE or Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes could convert their applications free of charge.

According to JAMB, “Candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME but have decided to pursue NCE or any Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes can visit any IPRC or JAMB PRC to convert their application at no additional cost.”

The board said the policy is designed to broaden access to teacher education and agricultural training while maintaining the quality and standards of the affected programmes.
