    Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State Parking Authority has started enforcement of the 2026 parking permit regulations across its operational zones in the state, warning defaulters of substantial fines and immediate suspension of operations.

The General Manager of LASPA, Adebisi Adelabu, disclosed this in a statement shared on the stste government page on Tuesday, saying the enforcement marked the end of the prolonged grace period granted to customers to regularise their activities and obtain their 2026 parking permits.

Adelabu said the extension was intended to give affected customers sufficient opportunity to meet their obligations and comply with the authority’s requirements.

She said the enforcement was aimed at ensuring compliance with approved parking regulations, promoting accountability and strengthening the management of parking activities across Lagos.

According to her, the exercise would also ensure compliance with laws governing the transport sector while streamlining parking management across the state.

The LASPA boss expressed concern that many customers were yet to obtain their 2026 parking permits despite several appeals, direct communications, reminders and the extended grace period.

She said, “The commencement of the enforcement marks the end of the prolonged grace period granted to customers to regularise their activities and obtain their 2026 parking permits.”

Adelabu added that LASPA had earlier distributed the 2026 Demand Notices to all registered customers, with the applicable fees, requirements and procedures for obtaining the permits clearly stated.

She urged customers who had yet to regularise their operations to take immediate steps to fulfil their obligations and avoid sanctions for continued non-compliance.

The general manager stressed that the enforcement exercise was not designed to punish operators but to restore order and accountability within the state’s parking system.

She said, “The enforcement exercise is not intended to be punitive, but a necessary measure to restore order, accountability, and efficiency within Lagos’ parking ecosystem.”

Adelabu explained that valid parking permits and accurate customer records were essential for the authority to effectively plan, monitor, regulate and manage parking infrastructure and services across the state.

She said, “Valid parking permits and accurate customer records are essential to enable LASPA to effectively plan, monitor, regulate, and manage parking infrastructure and services across the State.”

The LASPA boss warned that customers who defaulted on the 2026 Demand Notices would face severe penalties, including substantial fines and immediate suspension of operations.

She said the sanctions would be imposed in accordance with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.

Adelabu therefore urged all affected customers to immediately regularise their operations and obtain the required parking permits.

She said, “Defaulting customers on the 2026 Demand Notices would be liable to severe penalties, including substantial fines and immediate suspension of operations, in accordance with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.”

She assured customers that LASPA personnel were available to provide assistance and guidance, including support with the authority’s online payment and registration portals.

Adelabu also reaffirmed LASPA’s commitment to developing an efficient and sustainable parking system for residents, businesses and visitors to Lagos State.

She appealed to members of the public to cooperate with enforcement officers during the exercise and report unauthorised parking activities to the authority.
