    Your Calendar is Different!

    Your Calendar is Different!

Last week Wednesday, the 7th day of June was my birthday. For some years now, I often put up articles to either herald my birthday or to announce it on the D-day.

But this year was different. As we entered June and the thought of my birthday came to mind, I started to reflect on the goals I had set for myself before I hit forty. I looked at the boxes I have ticked and the others yet to be accomplished.

Here is forty, saying hi from two blocks away. I started to doubt the possibility of meeting these goals.

At a point, I almost started to feel the goals were too high in the first place. Or maybe I have been too optimistic thinking so many things would fall in place, things not under my control.

While I was busy having this discussion in my mind, I was reminded of the lime orange tree in our family house.

There is this lime-orange tree that sprung up in our compound. We just noticed it and started to guard it each time we weed the compound with a machete or spray it with chemicals (herbicides).

The position of the tree made it so conspicuous for everyone that enters the compound to notice it. As it grew taller, everyone became concerned about its delay in bearing fruits. Space would fail to recount the myriad of advice that had been given to help the plant produce.

Some even said it was one of the male species that don’t bear fruits.

Just last year, the tree produced just two fruits. We were like, “After all these years, it produced just two?”💁🏾

This year, we are trying to support the tree so it can carry the fruits without losing its branches as every bit of the tree has been taken by fruits.

And then, I had this voice telling me, just as I did not know how that tree got there, it is the same way no one can explain how I was formed. The day you were formed, your parents did not meet because they wanted to produce a child. He that chose to form you that day is the only one that has your true calendar and He alone can say whether you are late or not.

Be patient with yourself, your calendar is different. Just as that tree was patient until the set time to produce came, so also you need to be patient. As long as you are not cut off from your roots, your time to show forth will come.

After my eyes were opened to that lesson, I found peace and the courage to make some critical decisions that will shape the next phase of my life.

This might be very personal to me, but I think it might be a blessing to someone out there passing through the same pressure, feeling like an underachiever because of the giant goals you have set for yourself, or because you are measuring yourself based on the calendar of others or the societal definition of success and failure.

Your goals are valid, and not out of place, but the timing might not be measured by the calendar you have in mind.

Patiently wait for your time as you keep equipping yourself for your hour of manifestation. Don’t lose your enthusiasm, zest, and dedication in pursuing that goal, stay focused! Stay on course!

    I hope this blesses someone.
