Folake Ani-Mumuney, Global Head of Marketing at First Bank Retires.

Folake Ani-Mumuney, the Global Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at First Bank, has retired, marking the conclusion of a remarkable chapter in her illustrious career. With over 25 years of professional experience spanning banking, aviation, manufacturing, and oil and gas, Ani-Mumuney announced her retirement on Monday, expressing gratitude for her journey.

“As I bow out of FirstBank and draw a curtain on this phase this year-end! God has been wonderful to me, and I have so much to be thankful for,” she shared in a heartfelt message.

Gaia Africa, a private business club for Africa’s leading female executives, celebrated her contributions in an Instagram post. The organization praised Ani-Mumuney for her enduring legacy, advocacy for gender equity, and transformative impact on female leadership initiatives.

“We celebrate Folake Ani-Mumuney as she retires from her distinguished career at First Bank. FAM has carved a remarkable path, earning a stellar reputation for her diligence, unwavering support for women, and commitment to gender-related and leadership initiatives,” Gaia Africa noted. The organization wished her continued success as she embarked on a new chapter.

Ani-Mumuney’s journey at First Bank began in 2010, where her leadership in marketing and corporate communications further cemented her reputation as a seasoned executive with global expertise. Before joining First Bank, she held pivotal roles at British Airways and the Dangote Group, managing high-profile portfolios across Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the UK.

Her impact extended beyond the corporate world. As a former board member of WISCAR (Women in Successful Careers), Ani-Mumuney played an instrumental role in mentoring and empowering professional women across Nigeria and Africa. She also served as president of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) and is recognized as a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria. Additionally, she is an honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and a member of the Institute of Directors Nigeria.

Ani-Mumuney’s educational achievements are equally notable. She holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Lagos and a law degree from the University of Buckingham. She also earned a diploma in business computing systems analysis and design. An alumna of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Programme, she has attended executive courses at some of the world’s most prestigious business schools.

As she steps into a new phase, Ani-Mumuney leaves behind a legacy of excellence, leadership, and advocacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
