President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of the tenure of Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), granting him a final term in office.
The decision is part of efforts by the Federal Government to ensure stability and continuity in Nigeria’s power sector, particularly at a time when reforms and infrastructure upgrades are ongoing across the electricity value chain.
Engr. Abdulaziz, who has overseen the transmission arm of the power sector, is expected to consolidate on existing achievements, including grid expansion projects, improved transmission capacity, and ongoing collaborations with international partners to modernise the national grid.
Officials say the extension reflects confidence in his leadership and technical expertise, especially in managing the complexities of Nigeria’s transmission network and coordinating with generation and distribution companies to improve power supply nationwide.
The renewed tenure is also seen as a strategic move to maintain momentum in critical projects aimed at reducing system collapses, enhancing grid stability, and supporting increased electricity generation. Industry stakeholders have consistently highlighted the importance of strong leadership at TCN in achieving reliable and efficient power delivery.
With this final term, Engr. Abdulaziz is expected to focus on completing key transmission projects, strengthening operational efficiency, and aligning TCN’s performance with the Federal Government’s broader energy and economic development goals.
