Singer and rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem had visited Edo State for a tour with the governor, who presented projects he had carried out.
In his defence, the singer said in his latest song that his visit to Benin was to reopen his friend’s club, which had been closed following his performance in the state a few days earlier at the venue. And that he was in the state mainly to speak to the governor, out of loyalty to his friend, to ask him to reopen the club.
According to the wordings from his song, the veteran musician noted that he wanted to see for himself whether the governor is honestly working and said he is impressed by the work already done by the governor.
The rapper promised the natives of Edo State that within the next year or two, they would see more of his achievements. He encouraged Nigerians in the diaspora to return to the country and see what the governor is doing.
But his speech was not well-received by online users, who lambasted him for his comments.
While some fans complimented his loyalty, others questioned why he was harping on the issue and what the reasons were for the club’s initial closure.
