Hanks Anuku: ‘blackmail and dark powers’ in Nollywood.
Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has revealed that some of his colleagues in Nollywood engage in diabolic practices and blackmail.
The actor, known for his compelling portrayal of villainous and action-packed roles, shared his experiences in a recent interview on the Nollywood Hardcore podcast with fellow actor Emma Labista. He disclosed that envy and blackmail tainted his career, with some colleagues allegedly working against him.
In a preview of the interview, Labista asked, “What is your relationship with your colleagues?”
In response, Anuku noted, “In life, we must always keep space for falling down and standing up again. There was a bit of diabolism in the industry. Some people were diabolical, some were envious and jealous of my shine then. I was blackmailed.”
The actor, celebrated for his roles in classic films such as The Senator, Broad Daylight, and Formidable Force, became a household name in the early 2000s. With his deep baritone, signature Americanised accent, and on-screen charisma, Hanks Anuku often played gangsters, ruthless politicians, and high-profile criminals. His performances, particularly in action thrillers, set him apart as one of Nollywood’s most formidable stars.
Despite his success, Anuku’s career faced turbulence in later years, with reports of personal struggles making headlines. However, his latest revelations suggest that professional rivalry and alleged spiritual interference also played a role in his journey.
