Songster Omawunmi, born Omawumi Boma Megbele-Yussuf has addressed modern dating trends and the common opinion that they have become transactional.
In a chat with Pulse, she noted that even though the mechanics of relationships are different in modern times, relationships have always been transactional.
The ‘Megbele’ singer notes that women “have had long throat since the beginning of time.”
She said, “… but our transactional was different because if it was all those like secondary school to uni days of holding hands or crushing on a girl or a boy, you know, you just stay there, buy them ice cream and popcorn.
“But now, it’s now iPhone. There’s always been some level of transaction,” she pointed out. She also added that when one uses the word transactional, they make it sound like a strong word.
The musician encourages balance in relationships, noting that “If I’m with a man that showers gifts on me and, you know, I always try to match that energy,” she said.
