The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State Chapter, has formally recognized the efforts of the state government and security agencies following the successful rescue of all individuals abducted from Kurmin Wali village in Kajuru Local Government Area. Speaking at a reception for the survivors held at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna, the state CAN Chairman, Rev. Caleb Ma’aji, characterized the resolution of the mass abduction as a significant triumph over a period of intense uncertainty.
Rev. Ma’aji framed the incident as a critical evaluation of the state’s leadership and security apparatus, stating, “I am grateful to God because what happened in Kaduna came as a test. Your Excellency, the Deputy Governor, and all our active security agencies — we have all passed the test.” He noted that while many observers remained skeptical about the possibility of a successful rescue, the outcome served to validate the strategies employed by the authorities, adding that “because we prayed and took the necessary steps, we have succeeded and put the enemy to shame.”
The cleric further detailed his engagement with the affected community during the crisis, recounting how he sought to maintain morale among the distraught families. He informed the gathering that he had previously assured the Kurmin Wali residents of a positive result, telling them “that if God is God, and with the efforts of the governor and security agencies, they will all return.” He expressed profound relief that the rescue operation resulted in the safe return of every single captive rather than a partial release.
Concluding his address, Rev. Ma’aji pledged the ongoing cooperation of the Christian community with the state administration in its efforts to maintain public safety. “On behalf of this community, we say thank you very much. Because of what you have done and what God has used you to do, we will always stand with you, not just today, but beyond today. On behalf of the Christian community in Kaduna State and its leadership, I stand here to say we are grateful,” he said.
