Seyi Tinubu Denies Allegations by VeryDarkMan Over NGO Donation Controversy

    Manny Ita  –

Seyi Tinubu has responded to allegations made against him by Nigerian social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, dismissing claims linking him to alleged irregularities surrounding the activities of online content creator King Mitchy.
The controversy followed accusations by VeryDarkMan that King Mitchy, an online personality involved in charitable projects, lacked transparency and accountability after completing the renovation of a school building through his non-governmental organisation. The commentator further alleged that Seyi Tinubu was an ally and sponsor of King Mitchy’s charity activities under undisclosed arrangements.
VeryDarkMan also appealed to members of the public to hold Seyi Tinubu responsible should any harm come to him following his disclosures concerning the president’s son and the NGO operator.
Reacting through a statement posted on his Instagram account, Seyi Tinubu described the allegations as false and clarified that his involvement with King Mitchy was limited to a public donation made in support of youth-focused charitable initiatives.
“Over the past few days, my name has been deliberately drawn into an online dispute between VeryDarkMan (VDM) and King_Mitchy (‘Mitchy’),” he wrote. “Let me be clear: the allegations and insinuations made about me are false.”
He stated that his interaction with King Mitchy occurred in a public setting where he made a one-time donation as part of his commitment to supporting youth empowerment and social development initiatives across the country.
According to him, a follow-up meeting was planned to assess the impact of the donation but could not take place due to health-related reasons.
“There has never been a private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind,” he stated.
Seyi Tinubu expressed concern over what he described as attempts to drag his name into an unrelated dispute, accusing the commentator of exploiting the controversy as an opportunity to attack his reputation.
“If my name generates attention, let us at least deal in facts. Supporting charitable causes is not a crime. Meeting someone publicly to support their NGO is not a scandal. Repeating falsehoods loudly does not transform them into truth,” he added.
He further stated that he would not be intimidated by the allegations, stressing that disagreements should not escalate into harassment capable of threatening personal safety.
“I will not be bullied, and I will not dignify fiction with panic. No disagreement should descend into harassment that risks someone’s wellbeing or safety,” he said.
Calling for de-escalation, Seyi Tinubu maintained that philanthropy should not be politicised and reaffirmed his intention to continue supporting charitable causes aimed at societal development.
“Philanthropy and outreach must never be politicised or weaponised. Nigeria needs builders, not bullies. We need responsible discourse, not sensationalism driven by speculation. Noise will fade. Character and work endure. I remain committed to serving Nigerians, especially our youth, with integrity and transparency,” he concluded.
