A tragic road accident has marred the post-Easter period, with four persons confirmed dead and eight others injured in a lone crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The incident occurred near Christopher University in the Mowe axis of Ogun State, involving a commercial Toyota Hiace bus carrying 13 passengers.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps disclosed that the crash was caused by a tyre burst compounded by excessive speed, which led the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
According to the FRSC, eight victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and were immediately evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment, while the deceased were deposited at a morgue.
Rescue teams reportedly arrived at the scene within minutes of the incident, helping to reduce further casualties and ensure swift emergency response.
Authorities have since urged motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and ensure proper vehicle maintenance, particularly during festive periods when traffic volume increases significantly.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, one of Nigeria’s busiest highways, continues to record frequent accidents, raising renewed concerns over road safety enforcement and driver compliance across the country.
