The remaining schoolchildren and teachers abducted during the May 15 attack on Ahoro-Esiele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom.

The victims were kidnapped after heavily armed gunmen stormed the community and abducted 46 pupils, several teachers, and the principal of a secondary school, an incident that sparked widespread concern across the country.

The abduction took a tragic turn a few days later when one of the kidnapped teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly killed by the abductors.

The successful release of all the remaining captives has now been confirmed, bringing relief to their families and the affected community.

Authorities are yet to disclose details of the rescue operation, including whether the victims were freed through a security operation, negotiations, or if any suspects have been arrested.
