Popular media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown has unveiled a new national talk show, The Morayo Show, which she described as an effort to promote inclusive, interactive and people-centred conversations around Nigeria’s social, cultural and emotional issues.

The daily live audience programme, slated to premiere on 5 January 2026, will air every weekday on News Central TV, NTA Lagos and TVC Entertainment, with additional distribution across digital platforms.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, Afolabi-Brown said the show was created to move conversations away from a top-down approach and give everyday Nigerians a central voice.

She said, “The Morayo Show is designed as an interactive, live platform where real people are participants, not spectators. Our goal is to foster conversations that are inclusive, human, and impactful; conversations that reflect the realities, questions, and aspirations of Nigerians.”

Afolabi-Brown noted she would produce her show from a newly built studio on the Lagos Mainland. The programme also marks the launch of what the promoters described as the first premium television studio of its kind on the Mainland. She added that the studio will serve as a multipurpose creative space for talk shows, interviews, podcasts, movie premieres and professional recordings, widening access to high-quality production facilities outside traditional media hubs.

With over 20 years of experience in Nigerian broadcast media, Afolabi-Brown said the new show followed a personal and professional shift in her career. She said, “After 12 years, something really shifted. I realised that I was no longer fulfilled simply talking at people. I felt a strong call to start talking with people.”

Explaining the philosophy behind the programme, she added, “Nigeria does not suffer from a lack of opinions; we suffer from a lack of listening. We lack safe, held spaces for expression. This show was born from that conviction.”

She described The Morayo Show as a daily live audience talk show built around “real people, real issues, real stories and real solutions”, stressing that the future of media must be “interactive, inclusive and human”.

The show will focus on issues such as society, culture, relationships, family, faith, identity, leadership, business, creativity and national development, viewed through the experiences of ordinary Nigerians.

Afolabi-Brown also explained that the audience would play a central role in the programme. She said, “The camera stands with the audience. These are the Nigerian people. I will be moderating conversations with about 80 audience members, alongside guests and social media participants, so Nigerians can hear Nigerians speak truth to power.”

Commenting on the broadcast partnership, Editor-in-Chief/Managing Director of News Central Television, Kayode Akintemi, said the collaboration aligned with the station’s long-term vision.

He said, “This partnership reflects our commitment to building a future-ready media organisation anchored on quality journalism, strong partnerships and sustained growth. The Morayo Show aligns firmly with our vision to put our finger on the pulse of the nation by creating credible platforms where diverse and often silenced voices can thrive.”

Akintemi added that the programme had been scheduled for a 7:00 pm primetime slot on News Central to maximise reach and impact.

Similarly, Director of Programmes at TVC Entertainment & New Media, Olukunle Folarin, expressed support for the initiative, describing it as a natural progression in Afolabi-Brown’s career.

He said, “We are incredibly proud to support Morayo Afolabi-Brown as she embarks on this new journey. The Morayo Show reflects what she does best: sharing opinions, giving people a platform to speak their truth and fostering inclusive dialogue that inspires positive change.”

The promoters said the programme would be sustained through sponsorships and partnerships, with advertisers expected to engage the platform following its official studio launch on 18 December.

As she concluded the unveiling, Afolabi-Brown described the project as a calling rather than a career move, saying, “This is not the end of my career. This is the beginning of my calling. I am deeply excited, humbly grateful, and profoundly expectant of what lies ahead. I am looking forward to building a better Nigeria with this show.”
