The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cautioned Nigerians against a fraudulent online recruitment notice claiming that the commission has begun hiring and training ad-hoc personnel ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The electoral body said the fake notice, which is being circulated online, directs interested applicants to a website presented as an official recruitment platform.
INEC, however, said neither the recruitment announcement nor the website originated from the commission.

In a statement issued on Monday, the commission said, “The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been drawn to a message circulating online claiming that the Commission is currently recruiting and training ad-hoc staff for the 2027 General Election.”
It noted that the message contains a link directing members of the public to a purported recruitment website.
“This information is not from INEC. The website/link being circulated is NOT an official INEC recruitment portal,” the commission said.
INEC warned members of the public against interacting with the platform, particularly providing personal details or uploading documents.
“Members of the public are strongly advised NOT to click on the link, submit personal information, upload documents or make any payment through the platform,” it said.
The commission urged Nigerians to obtain election and recruitment updates only from its verified communication platforms and official websites.
“INEC’s official recruitment and election-related announcements are published through the Commission’s verified communication channels and official websites,” the statement said.
It directed those seeking genuine information to visit its official website, adding, “For official information, please visit: inecnigeria.org”
INEC said the latest warning was consistent with previous alerts issued over fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements allegedly linked to the commission.
“The Commission has previously warned the public about fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements purporting to originate from INEC,” it said.
The electoral body also appealed to Nigerians not to share or further circulate the false notice.
“Please disregard and do not circulate this false recruitment notice,” INEC said.
The commission concluded by urging Nigerians to exercise caution when responding to online recruitment announcements.
“Stay informed. Stay safe. Always verify before you click.”
