LG Electronics has reinforced its commitment to sustainable community development with the donation of a solar-powered borehole to the College of Education Warri, providing students and staff with reliable access to clean and safe water.
The project, executed as part of LG Electronics’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, is designed to improve water access within the institution while promoting the use of renewable energy solutions. The solar-powered borehole will provide a consistent and environmentally friendly water supply, helping to enhance hygiene standards and create a more conducive learning environment for the academic community.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Provost of the College of Education, Warri, Dr. Dickson Onovwakpoma Oyovwi (JP) expressed appreciation to LG Electronics for the timely intervention. “This solar-powered borehole project is a significant contribution to our institution. Access to clean water has been a major need for our students and staff, and this donation will greatly improve our daily activities and overall well-being. This water has been sustaining the hostel since its installation”.
Dr. Oyovwi emphasized the importance of corporate social responsibility, noting that corporate organizations have a duty to give back to society. He commended LG Electronics for identifying the needs of the institution and supporting education through the impactful initiative. The Provost also encouraged other corporate organizations to emulate LG Electronics’ example in supporting educational development and community wellbeing.
He concluded by expressing the institution’s heartfelt gratitude to LG Electronics for the generous gesture and meaningful partnership.
Also speaking at the event, the Head of Corporate Marketing, LG Electronics Nigeria Mr. Paul Mba highlighted the company’s dedication to improving lives through sustainable solutions. “At LG Electronics, we believe that meaningful innovation goes beyond technology; it is about improving the quality of life in the communities where we operate. The donation of this solar-powered borehole reflects our commitment to supporting education and providing sustainable solutions that address real community needs,” he said.
The Secretary General of the Student Union Government, Ms. Testimony, appreciates LG Electronics for this kind gesture and assures that the student community will take care of this Solar-powered Borehole given to the institution. “We are very grateful to LG Electronics for this project. Getting clean water has sometimes been difficult for students, but this borehole will make life easier for us and help us focus better on our studies. This is a project that will benefit many generations of students,” she said.
The solar-powered borehole project aligns with LG Electronics’ broader vision of supporting educational institutions and empowering communities through sustainable infrastructure. By utilizing solar energy, the facility will operate efficiently with minimal dependence on public power supply, ensuring long-term reliability.
