Nigerian media mogul Mo Abudu is set to deepen her global influence as the EbonyLife brand prepares to launch EbonyLife Place London, a major cultural and creative hub dedicated to amplifying African storytelling and entrepreneurship in the United Kingdom. The new venture, situated in the heart of London, is designed as a multi-purpose space that will serve as a meeting point for filmmakers, content creators, investors, and creatives of African descent. The project reflects EbonyLife’s long-standing mission to project authentic African narratives onto the global stage while creating sustainable opportunities within the creative economy. Speaking on the development, Abudu emphasized that the initiative is more than just a physical space, describing it as “a home for African creatives in the diaspora and a bridge connecting talent from Africa to the rest of the world.” She added that the hub would foster collaboration, innovation, and access to global markets, noting that “the time has come for African stories to take their rightful place at the center of global conversations.” EbonyLife Place London is expected to host film screenings, industry events, training programmes, and business incubation initiatives aimed at nurturing emerging talent while supporting established creators. The facility will also provide networking opportunities for stakeholders across film, television, fashion, and digital media. Industry analysts say the move signals a strategic expansion of EbonyLife’s footprint beyond Nigeria and reinforces the growing global appetite for African content. By establishing a permanent presence in one of the world’s leading creative capitals, the brand is positioning itself as a key player in shaping how African stories are produced, distributed, and consumed internationally. The launch marks another milestone in EbonyLife’s evolution from a Nigerian-based media company into a globally recognized creative powerhouse, underscoring Abudu’s vision of building platforms that not only tell African stories but also empower the people behind them.

Oyo economic growth depends largely on Ibadan Airport,  Circular Road projects

Seyi Makinde, Oyo State Governor, has emphasized the critical role of the Ibadan Airport upgrade and the Ibadan Circular Road projects in driving the state’s economic development.

Speaking on Sunday at the 2025 Thanksgiving Service of Victory International Church, Rehoboth Cathedral, Ibadan, Makinde pledged to deliver key segments of these projects within the year.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the state’s infrastructure, noting that the Ibadan Airport upgrade would enable it to compete with Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport. He disclosed that significant progress had already been made, including the installation of an aviation fuel storage and dispensing facility and ongoing runway expansion to accommodate larger aircraft such as the Boeing 787.

Makinde revealed plans to complete a new terminal capable of serving over one million passengers annually, with partial delivery of the airport project expected this year and the terminal slated for completion in early 2026.

On the Ibadan Circular Road, Makinde stated that the 32km East Wing segment, stretching from the Technical University to Badeku, would be completed in 2025. He urged residents to continue supporting his administration, assuring them of his focus on building enduring infrastructure and institutions.

The governor also appealed to residents to uphold the rule of law and maintain cleanliness in the state, highlighting tourism as a key economic driver. He warned against illegal dumping of refuse and emphasized ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure and street trading conditions.

“We’re expanding roads to reduce travel time and boost economic activities. But residents must be ready to obey rules and regulations,” Makinde said.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s economic difficulties, Makinde expressed optimism that the nation would overcome its challenges. Drawing on historical resilience, he reassured citizens that tough times would pass, adding, “We will continue to make progress, thanks to your prayers and intercessions.”

Earlier, Bishop Taiwo Adelakun, Presiding Bishop of Victory International Church, urged the congregation to support the government with prayers to ensure more dividends of democracy.

Governor Makinde was accompanied by prominent state officials, including Hon. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, Chief Ademola Ojo, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, Mrs. Toyin Balogun, Pastor Layi Adisa, and others.

Makinde concluded by wishing the people of Oyo State a prosperous 2025, reaffirming his commitment to delivering impactful projects that would transform the state’s economy and improve the lives of its residents.
