‘We’ll Break the Law to Win’: Ganduje Ally Garba Kore Boasts in Viral Podcast

A political ally of former Kano State Governor and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Garba Kore, has come under heavy criticism after remarks he made during a political podcast that is now trending on social media.

In the viral recording, Kore said the APC is determined to reclaim Kano State in the 2027 general elections, even if it means breaking the law.

He conceded that the opposition New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, remains more popular in the state, but insisted the APC would still find a way to take power.

“Kwankwaso still has more supporters than us, and we in the APC have no real hope but we will seize power by force, even if it means violating the law,” Kore said in the discussion.

He added that political connections, in his view, allow some actors to act with impunity: “In Nigeria, once you have connections, you can break the law and move on.”

Kore also addressed the ongoing Kano Emirate dispute, alleging the matter is not genuinely before the courts but is being managed or stalled by the Federal Government.

“This emirate issue is not really a court case. The Federal Government is the one holding everything and preventing action. The only solution is for them to return to our side,” he said.

The comments have provoked sharp reactions from political observers and civil society groups, who described the remarks as reckless and dangerous for democratic practice.

Analysts warn that rhetoric about using force to determine political outcomes risks inflaming tensions in an already polarized environment and undermines public confidence in electoral institutions.

The podcast surfaced at a sensitive moment for Kano politics, following prolonged legal and political battles over the emirate structure that began with the 2019 creation of additional emirates and subsequent reversals.

Observers say such statements coming so close to a major election cycle could further complicate efforts to resolve the chieftaincy dispute peacefully.

The clip continues to circulate widely on social media, drawing debate across Kano and beyond as stakeholders weigh the possible implications of Kore’s words for the state’s political future.
