The Africa Real Estate Magazine & Awards 2026 is set to take place in Lagos, on the 13th of December at Lekki Coliseum Rooftop, Lagos, Nigeria. This brings together major players in the real estate and built environment sectors to celebrate excellence, innovation and contributions shaping Africa’s property landscape.
The event will attract developers, investors, architects, property professionals, government representatives, financial institutions, construction companies and other stakeholders in the built environment.
Speaking on the initiative, the Founder, Dr. Kingsley Amafibe and The CEO, Amb Ashley Yusuf said the platform was created to recognise the people, organisations, projects and ideas contributing to the growth and transformation of Africa’s real estate sector.
Amafibe noted that the property industry across the continent was experiencing significant changes driven by rapid urbanisation, changing demographics, technological advancement, infrastructure development and rising demand for quality housing and commercial spaces.
According to him, the Africa Real Estate Magazine & Awards will provide an avenue to document these changes while giving industry leaders an opportunity to share ideas, experiences and solutions to some of the challenges confronting the sector.
He said the magazine would feature interviews, industry perspectives and project profiles covering areas such as residential and commercial real estate, construction, architecture, infrastructure, urban development, affordable housing, investment, proptech and sustainable development.
At the centre of the initiative is the Africa Real Estate Awards 2026, which will recognise outstanding developers, professionals, organisations and projects making notable contributions to the industry.
Amafibe said the awards were designed to celebrate not only major property developments but also the professionals and organisations behind them, particularly those introducing innovative approaches and creating positive impact within their communities.
He also highlighted the growing influence of technology on the property industry, pointing to the increasing use of proptech, artificial intelligence, data and smart-building solutions in the way properties are designed, marketed, financed, constructed and managed.
“Sustainability is also becoming increasingly important as African cities expand and the demand for housing and infrastructure grows,” Amafibe said, adding that the industry must find ways to balance development with affordability, environmental responsibility and long-term resilience.
He said developments that embrace energy efficiency, responsible materials, climate-conscious design and sustainable community planning would be important to the future of Africa’s built environment.
The 2026 edition will adopt a continental perspective, with attention on major property markets including Lagos, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Accra, Cairo and Kigali.
Amafibe noted that although these markets have different realities, they share common challenges and opportunities, including urbanisation, housing demand, infrastructure needs, access to finance, investment and the adoption of technology.
He said bringing professionals from different markets together would encourage knowledge exchange, collaboration and stronger business relationships across the continent.
