Pen to paper, Nigerian Alhassan Yusuf has moved to MLS’ New England Revolution

… on a three-year contract with an option to extend for a further year.

Super Eagles midfielder, Alhassan Yusuf, has joined Major League Soccer (MLS), New England Revolution, from Belgian league side, Royal Antwerp.

The Revs confirmed the signing of Yusuf on Monday, saying the 24-year-old Nigerian international joined the club using the season-ending injury replacement mechanism and has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with an option to extend for a further year.

Yusuf enjoyed a trophy-laden spell in Belgium after signing for Royal Antwerp in 2021. The Nigerian helped the club to win the league, Belgian Cup and Belgian Super Cup during his time there.

“We are pleased to add an impactful player with elite European experience to our roster in Alhassan Yusuf, whose arrival makes us even stronger in the central midfield position,” Revolution Sporting Director Curt Onalfo told the club’s official website.

“Alhassan is a talented player with title-winning experience in the prime of his career. His competitive drive, excellent vision and passing, and tenacious tackling will all raise the level of our team.”

Head coach Caleb Porter added: “With his international and Champions League experience, I expect Alhassan Yusuf to quickly establish himself as an elite midfielder in Major League Soccer.”
