‘United will regret not signing Osimhen’

According to UK columnist, Tom Collomosse, Manchester United will regret not making a move for Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen this summer following their team’s toothless attacking display against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
United were deterred by Napoli’s huge price tag on Osimhen and also failed to meet the asking price of Harry Kane who later joined Bayern Munich but opted to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in a deal that could end up costing £72m.
Writing in his column on Daily Mail on Wednesday after Manchester United’s scrappy 1-0 win over Wolves, Collomosse said the Red Devils will struggle in attack if they do not resolve their problem before Hojlund returns.
“They (United) were toothless in front of goal against Gary O’Neil’s men and if they have not resolved this problem when Hojlund returns, the pressure will be even greater, “Collomosse wrote.
“Anyone who watched Serie A last season knows Hojlund is a serious talent. He is a quick, strong, brave and technically excellent player who will eventually flourish in a top club.
“Yet with Marcus Rashford – disappointing against Wolves – unwilling to play through the middle, United need someone to deliver instantly.
That is why it is surprising they did not go strongly for a top-line centre-forward with a track record of produce either over a long period or in elite competitions.
“Either Osimhen or Kane would have been perfect. Osimhen is a complete No 9 with the personality to fire Napoli to only the third Serie A title in their history. They will regret not moving for him.
“Even if the price tags for Osimhen and Kane put them out of reach, there were still other options, like Goncalo Ramos or Randal Kolo Muani.”
