Sponsorship:  Nigerian football signs N1.2bn deal with Premium Trust Bank

Premium Trust Bank will pay Nigeria’s football-ruling body N300 million annually with a built-in clause for a 10% increase yearly.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has secured a major sponsorship agreement with Premium Trust Bank, valued at N1.2 billion to boost football development in Nigeria.

NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau revealed during a signing ceremony held in Abuja noting that the agreement will be four years during which Premium Trust Bank will pay Nigeria’s football-ruling body N300 million annually with a built-in clause for a 10% increase yearly.

The partnership establishes Premium Trust Bank as the official bank of the NFF and the National Teams.

Gusau expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting Premium Trust Bank’s commitment to supporting Nigerian youth in sports. The bank’s track record of involvement in the sports sector further solidified its reputation as a sports-friendly institution.

“We are excited to be associated with Premium Trust Bank because of its credible, close relationship with sports over its less-than-three-year life in the financial sector. During our interactions leading to the signing of this agreement, I was moved by the palpable enthusiasm and commitment of the organization to supporting and encouraging Nigerian youth all the way from the grassroots to stardom.”

Premium Trust Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Emmanuel Emefienim, emphasised the bank’s dedication to impacting lives through sports and its belief in football’s unifying power. The partnership aligns with the bank’s vision of supporting grassroots development and nurturing young talents.

“We have been very deliberate in our support for sports because we are deliberate when it comes to impacting lives. Our belief is that the private sector has a role to play in providing the platform for the youth to showcase their positive talents and be useful to themselves and the nation, thereby supporting the government,” Emefienim stated.

He added: “We recognize football as a strong unifying factor in a highly diversified nation like ours. Supporting the NFF and football is to identify talents from the grassroots and nurture them to stardom, thus contributing to national development. I believe our coming into this space will definitely take Nigeria Football to new heights of excellence.”

Gusau also assured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to improving all aspects of Nigerian football. The strategic collaboration is expected to boost NFF’s financial resources and contribute to the growth of Nigerian football. Gusau also called on other corporate entities to follow Premium Trust Bank’s example and support the development of the sport in the country.

“While celebrating the coming of Premium Trust Bank, the first huge partnership we are signing, we call on credible corporate entities like the bank to come forward and support the Nigerian game.”
