January revenue: Ogun customs raised N4bn
The Ogun II Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced a revenue generation of ₦4.03bn for January 2025, marking a 104% increase compared to the ₦2.14bn recorded in the same period last year.
The Controller of the Command, Comptroller Olusola Alade, disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing at the command’s office in Abeokuta.
Alade revealed that the command also generated ₦32.46bn in revenue for the year 2024, attributing the surge to the professionalism, diligence, and dedication of officers in exceeding their revenue target.
Alade said, “It may interest you to know that the command generated ₦4,000,335,323.53 in January 2025, compared to ₦2,135,276,673.86 recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
“This reflects a differential of ₦1.87bn, translating to a 104% increase—a remarkable achievement driven by our officers’ commitment to duty.”
He added that the command’s decisive actions had yielded impressive results, as reflected in the ₦4bn revenue collected in January alone.
Alade further disclosed that the command recently uncovered four unauthorized factories operating in Ota, Ogun State, without necessary licenses and permits. The affected companies—Evita Moore, Lekan Industries, Scarlet Eagle Ltd, and IBK Ventures—have since been brought under excise control.
He commended the Monitoring Unit, Customs Intelligence Unit, and Customs Police Unit for their role in ensuring compliance and enhancing revenue collection.
The controller pledged that the command would continue to engage stakeholders and local business communities to support the federal government’s trade facilitation and revenue generation drive.
He also lauded the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the NCS management for their unwavering support, which, he noted, has served as a morale booster for the command’s officers.
